B-24 'Double Trouble' (41-29244) Crash Site Marker

A few meters to the east side of the forest road.   Marker


A monument representing one tail stabilizer of the Liberator that crashed here in February of 1944.  Inscription in Slovenian and English honor the ten man crew, five of whom were taken POW and five of whom perished in the crash.  On this day 24 other Liberators were lost in Europe, most on their way to Regenburg Germany and back.  The 451st Bomb group lost six B-24's on that day.  The monument was put in place by Raul Semenič and Renata Gutnik on 15th October, 2014.
