  Monument Text:

In gratitude the citizens of Ennal honor our liberators.

On the 15th of January 1945, the 424th Infantry Regiment of the 106th Infantry Division was given the mission of taking Ennal and high ground to the east.  The 424th punched their way into the village but were pinned down by devastating enemy fire.  Held by a strong force of Germans entrenched in houses bristling with automatic weapons, Ennal was finally taken by assault and cleared by night.
