Roger Leon Holm was born on October 9, 1917. He was the son of John Holm and Cora Holm. 1LT Holm was bombardier-navigator of a crew of six of a B-26 Marauder named the "Son of Satan," who were given the mission to bomb storage dumps at Saint Wendel. The plane was shot down by anti-aircraft artillery on November 18, 1944. A direct hit tore the left wing off the outboard of the engine, causing the aircraft to lose control. Five of the six-man crew perished. The lone survivor was captured and held POW. Roger is now buried in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Lincoln County, Nebraska, USA, in the same grave with 1LT Melson.
