Villeneuve-sur-Auvers American Cemetery Gate

Description:

This is the site of the temporary American cemetery Villeneuve-sur-Auvers. It was opened on 25 August 1944 and held the remains of 303 combatants. The site is an open area on the side of the road covered in gravel. The back of the site is lined with a stone wall that leads to two stone pillars in the center that once served as the gate entrance to a temporary American cemetery. The site has recently been renovated and converted to a memorial honoring the memory of U.S., German, and French soldiers who were once buried here.
