A series of caves carved into the soft rock of the ENCI cement company quarry where American GI's lived in 1944. A mass was celebrated here by Dutch brothers for American soldiers on Christmas eve 1944, and is now reenacted every year. The caves are full of GI and other inscriptions. The non-profit SHAK1944 stages the commemorative mass. Contact them at info@shak1944.org.
