DAVID W. JOHNSTON, JR.

CAPT 365 FIGHTER SQ AAF

WORLD WAR II PH

aus Youngstown, OHIO, USA,

der am 20 September 1944

mit seiner P-47 Thunderbolt

beim Angriff auf den Lokschuppen

an der Hustley abstürtzte.

 

Seine sterblichen Überrreste wurden erst 1952

gefunden und 1953 nach Youngstown überführt.

 

 

 

English translation:

 

In memory of David W. Johnston, Jr. Captain, 365th Fighter Squadron, Army Air Force World War II Purple Heart from Youngstown, Ohio, USA, who on 20 September 1944 with his P-47 Thunderbolt crashed into the Hustley cliffs while attacking the railroad roundhouse.  His remains were first discovered in 1952 and were returned to Youngstown in 1953.
