384th Bombardment Group Memorial Window

Details:

The window is located in the Church of Saint James the Apostle behind a small altar with candles and a cross.  Commemorative Object The top of this stained glass window features the American and British flags, the insignia of the 384th Bomb Group, and the insignia of four of its squadrons. In the middle is a representation of a B-17 Flying Fortress flown by the 384th Bomb Group. Here, it is depicted as flying over the Channel, the Cliffs of Dover (seen at the bottom of the window), and two birds on its way home from a mission, as indicated by the inscription of the words "Coming Home" at the very bottom of the window. The red band of glass features the inscription describing the dedication of the window. The window was dedicated on May 21, 1983.
