508th Parachute Infantry Regiment Plaque

Details:

This plaque is located at the center of the garden that constitutes the Grand-Sart site.  Plaque This bronze plaque, along with another stone plaque above it, is attached to a rough field stone that stands on a stone and mortar base. Immediately below the plaque there is a rectangular flower plot and at the foot on the plaque's base there is an affiliated plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. The top of the plaque itself depicts the insignia of the 82nd Airborne Division and the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. The plaque's bilingual English inscription recognizes the sacrifice of American paratroopers during the Battle of the Bulge and expresses a hope for a long-lasting American-Belgian friendship. The French inscription recognizes the sacrifice of the soldiers of the Belgian resistance movement.
