On the lawn between the bridge and the washhouse sculpture Marker


A light stone marker commemorating the WWI liberation of Nonsard. 

 An original photo of the event is inscribed into the top surface, along with gold leaf text in French.  The front surface contains an inscription of crossed US and French flags.  

More recently in 2019, the 16th Infantry Regiment Association added a plaque remembering those who fell taking Nonsard.

In commemoration of the liberation of Nonsard by the men of the 

16th Regiment, 1st Infantry Division on 12 September 1918

during the Battle of St. Mihiel.  Let us remember that freedom is not

free; there is always a price to be paid.
