Monument
A stone memorial inlaid with marble plaques. The left plaque has the insignia of the 8th Air Force, the 9th Air Force, and the US Army Air Force. The right plaque, engraved in gold leaf with French text, honors Colonel Thomas JJ Christian, commander of the 361st fighter group, who lost his life while piloting his P-51 fighter in an attack on the town's train marshalling yard on 12 Aug 44. He is buried in a CWGC cemtery in Arras.
