Allied Aviator plaque

Details:

On the outside wall of the Blois City Hall, hanging to the left of the main door as you face the building. Plaque Two stone plaques, the top in French and the bottom in English, describing how allied aviators used the town hall and adjacent cathedral as landmarks for their clandestine landings in the area during WWII.  The plaques were inaugurated in 1984.

Top plaque in French:
Dans la nuit de l'occupation,
la Ville de Blois,
plus particulièrement la Cathédrale
et l'Hotel de Ville,
ont servi de repères aux aviateurs Alliés
qui, au péril de leur vie,
ont courageusement multiplié les atterrissages
et les parachutages clandestins
en liaison avec la Résistance
pour la libération de la France

Bottom plaque in English:
In the night of the second world war occupation
allied aviators used the town of Blois and
particularly the town hall and the cathedral
as landmarks and risked their lives during
clandestine landings and parachutings in touch
with the resistance movement for the liberation
of France.
