Commemorative Object The town wash house was donated by Holyoke, Massachusetts after the was in honor of the Americans who were killed in the area.  One side of the wash house contains a gold leaf inscription in French, topped by an American eagle and flag.

CETTE ADDUCTION D'EAU A ETE OFFERTE A LA COMMUNE PAR LA VILLE DE HOLYOKE MASSACHUSETTS ETATS UNIS.  ELLE A ETE INAUGUREE LE 4 SEPTEMBRE 1922 PAR TOUCAS MASSILLON SOUS PREFET DE COMMERCY EN PRESENCE DE MAJOR CARLYLE H WASH, REPRESENTANT L'AMBASSADEUR DE LA REPUBLIQUE DES ETATS UNIS D'AMERIQUE MONSIEUR CHARROIS ETANT MAIRE

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:  In memory of the American soldiers who fell at Apremont la Foret during the Great War.  This water system was donated by the town of Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA  It was inaugurated on 4 September 1922 by Toucas Massillon, the Sous Prefet of Commercy, in presence of Major Carlyle H Wash, representing the Ambassador of the United States of America Mr. Charrois, current mayor.
