LaMotte du Rhône Liberation Plaque
Details:
On the left side wall beside the belfry.
A blue rectangular
plaque inscribed in French and English text commemorating the town’s liberation
in World War II. On August 26, 1944 the LaMotte du Rhône was liberated by the 3rd
US Infantry Division of the United States. Printed on top of the plaque are the
LaMotte du Rhône blazon, French flag, US flag, and the 3rd Infantry
Division insignia. On the left side of the plaque is a map with the French
commemoration message and on the right is the English text followed by the 3rd
Infantry Division crest. The bottom part is the dedication date, the 3rd
Infantry Division’s nickname and the emplacement requestor of the plaque.
