B-17 42-3048 Tablet
Details:
On the ground, to the east side of the village war memorial.
A rectangular, smooth stone tablet, carved with the names of ten crew members of the B-17 #42-3048 “Sharon Belle” that crashed at Astwell Castle Farms on November 30, 1943. The letters were painted in black and the tablet was laid horizontally on the ground. A more detailed plaque related to this could be seen in the village church.
