405th Fighter Group Window

<< Back to Christchurch Priory

Details:

The opening of the Prior's Door in the South Wall in 1981 led to the building of the Cloister Way connecting the Church to the Priory House and to the cafe. The installation of the stained glass windows with the 49 roundels depicting episodes in the history of the Priory Church was completed in 1999. The section for the 405th Fighter Group is in the bottom left of the left hand window. By accident or by curious design it is immediately below a pane celebrating the presence of Kaiser Wilhelm II at the Priory before 1914.
