A large cubed shaped rock with an engraved steel plaque attached to the front.

 

On September 21, 1943, the 30th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Infantry “Rock of the Marne” infantry Division liberated the town of Montecorvino Rovella - just days after the “Operation Avalanche” landings at Salerno.  

 

The “Rock” memorial was dedicated on September 19, 2021, on the 78th Anniversary of the town’s liberation.

 

Special thanks to the 3rd Infantry Division, Outpost 16, Southern Italy Chapter and LI° Battaglione Bersaglieri A.U.C. (Veterans Association) for the photos and assistance with this memorial and to the the Amici di Montecorvino Rovella "ESPLORANDO LA CAMPANIA" (Exploring Campania) for sponsoring this event and memorial.
