Monument


A brick monument with a center inscribed plaque on front and back. A helmet sits atop the monument.

 

The monument remembers the 7th Armored Division during the Battle of Overloon.

 

The Battle of Overloon was fought in the aftermath of Operation Market Garden in and around the village of Overloon in the south-east of the Netherlands between 30 September and 18 October 1944. The battle was a tough Allied Victory fought by the 7th Armored Division and British Forces.

 

The nearby Gen. Hasbroucklaan (General Hasbrouck Lane) in Overloon remembers the 7th Armored Division commander, Major General  Robert W. “Bob” Hasbrouck (Commander of Combat Command B during the Battle of Overloon).  The lane is a short distance from the memorial.
