Inside the lobby of the Hotel Britannique. Plaque This is a framed plaque commemorating the American and British Quakers who offered their service in civil reconstruction in this hotel during and after WWI. 

Monument Text:

Translated from French: During WWI (1914-1918) this hotel was the head of the mission of the Society of Friends (Quakers) work relief to the civilian population and reconstruction in the affected areas during the years 1914 to 1920. Over a thousand British and American volunteers, men and women took part in this work: most stayed in this hotel. The red and black star, the insignia of the Mission, was taken for the first time in 1870-1871 by a member of such a mission sent to France by the Quakers to help civilian victims of this war.
