A standard upright US Military white inscribed gravestone.


PFC Thomas John Ward was the first Irish man to be killed during the Korean War. Originally from Belfast, but grew up in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan.  Ward resided at large in the US and served in the 35th Infantry Regiment of the 25th “Tropical Lightning” Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was killed while defending the Chung-ni-Mason route into the Pusan Perimeter, South Korea on August 22, 1950.
