Stone plaque on a concrete base marking the spot American Aviator Lt. Jack E. Shively was shot down.

LT Shively was a member of  the 504th Fighter Squadron, 339th Fighter Group.

From the Chinon Tourism Website:

Located next to the Eiffel Bridge, a memorial stone dedicated to Lieutenant Jack E. Shively was erected in the early 2000s. It was placed in memory of this 24-year-old American pilot who died in combat on June 13, 1944. He was attempting to shoot down German planes bombing the bridges in Chinon. He belonged to the 504th Fighter Squadron (339th Fighter Group) and piloted a P51 Mustang.
