Details:

The centerpiece of the site is a stone monument on which are attached two plaques. The Hoy plaque is on top. The Hoy cross in on the left side and has an American and a French flag on it. Plaque A marble plaque with gold leaf inscription and text in French. On 22 August 1944, two P-51-F6A fighters took off from Borgo (Corsica) for an armed reconnaissance mission. After having machine-gunned road convoys at Saint Gilles, around Nimes and Ales, at Peyreleau and Millau, they attacked a column on the plateau of Larzac. Lieutenant Richard Francis Hoy of the 111th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron of the 12th Air Force was shot down by light flak at Infruts. His leader Roy Simmons returned damaged to Corsica. On the same day, 23 members of the French Resistance group Paul Claie were massacred in the same area at La Pezade.
