On the brick walkway in the middle of the square.

Plaque

A rough stone monument with two plaques affixed to the front.  The Tippett/McConnell plaque is on the bottom.  It is a black granite plaque with gold leaf inscription in French and English and displays the French and American flags. The memorial remembers two pilots of the 14th Fighter Group who died in action above Arles in August 1944.
