On the east side of rue le Petit Droit, 200 meters south of the city limit sign south of the town, right next to a concrete high tension wire pole.

A shaped fieldstone with a veined, colorful stone plaque honoring Lafayette Escadrille pilot James McConnell (Spelled MAC CONNELL on the monument). French text in gold leaf. McConnell was shot down near this spot in aerial combat.

A la memoire de Sergent pilote James MAC CONNELL de l'Escadrille Lafayette, mort pour la France Mars 1917.

 ENGLISH TRANSLATION: 

In memory of pilot Sergeant James McConnell of the Lafayette Escadrille,
 killed for France, March 1917.
