2nd Infantry Division Monument - Pilsen
Details:
In the center of the park adjacent to the road and tramway.
An inscribed granite monument about 6 feet tall.
The monument remembers the soldiers of the 2nd Infantry Division who died while fighting for the liberation of Czechoslovakia. The 2nd Infantry Division was part of V Corps, 3rd US Army. On 4 May 1945, the 9th Infantry Regiment of the US 2nd Infantry Division broke through the eastern front of the Third Reich and entered occupied Czechoslovakia.
