The plaque remembers the 4th Marine Division landing on Roi and Namur Islands during the Battle of Kwajalein in February 1944. The 4th Marine Division landed on Roi and Namur Islands on the northern side of the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands as part of Operation Flintlock during the Eastern Mandate Campaign.
