A rectangular bronze plaque set onto a wedge-shaped white stone base dedicated to the officers and enlisted men of the 441st Sub Depot. The plaque is inscribed in English in raised lettering. Depicted images are a B-17, the 91st Bomb Group, and 441st Sub-Depot insignias.

BASSINGBOURN ENGLAND

OCTOBER 1942 - JUNE 1945

 

WORKING IN HANGAR ONE

THEY PROVIDED MAJOR MAINTENANCE

TO THE FOUR SQUADRONS OF THE 91ST BOMB GROUP

WHO FLEW 404 OF THE B17'S DURING WORLD WAR II

 

209 OF THE B-17'S AND 2,012 COURAGEOUS

AIRMEN WERE LOST TO ENEMY ACTION
