In the very rear of the the cathedral, behind the alter. Commemorative Object The American Memorial Chapel honors American servicemen and women who died in World War II, and was dedicated in 1958.  It was designed by Godfrey Allen and Stphen Dykes Bower.  The Roll of Honor

contains the names of more than 28,000 Americans who gave their lives while on their way to, or stationed in, the United Kingdom during the Second World War.  It is in front of the chapel's alter.

Monument Text:

This chapel commemorates the common sacrifice of the British and American peoples during the Second World War and especially those American service men whose names are recorded in its roll of honour.  This tablet was unveiled by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on 26 November 1958 in the presence of Richard M. Nixon the Vice President of the United States of America.
