Details:

Along the path in the memorial park, at the top of the rise. Statue A fourteen foot tall bronze statue on a white stone base.  The original sculpture, sculpted by Leah Heibert in 1960 and 1961, and using Sergeant Major James Runyon as a model, is at Fort Benning and depicts a World War II era Airborne trooper with a Thompson submachine gun.  This copy was unveiled on 7 June 1997.
