In the back of the closed off area, there is the town's war memorial.  Monument The memorial is a concrete monument which has the town's war dead on it, as well as a statue of a soldier embracing a flag on the top. On the front of the monument, there is a white marble plaque honoring the 73rd R.A.F. Squadron and the 362nd U.S. Fighter Group. The 362nd U.S. Fighter Group used the airfield there from November 5, 1944 to early April, 1945, from which they ran several successful missions during the Battle of the Bulge.
