When Raymond Pfost was born on July 5, 1891, his father, William, was 37 and his mother, Tressa, was 29. He had two brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 (at the age of 27) in France and is now buried in Winamac Cemetery, Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana, USA. His surname is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Pfast.
