William Thomas Morse was born on August 3, 1924. He was killed was serving as the top turret gunner on a B-17 that was hit by German anti-aircraft fire and subsequently attacked by fighter planes while returning from a mission over Poznan, Poland. He was briefly interred in Denmark and in the Ardennes American Cemetery before his body was transported back to the United States.
