Christos Nicholas Kalivas was born on September 24, 1888 in Dolon, Regional unit of Ioannina, Epirus, Greece. He attended theological school in Athens. Following the sudden death of his father, left school to support family. He Immigrated in 1908 to US and worked as a heel sorter. He entered the military service in New Hampshire and served as a member of Company C, 16th infantry, 1st division. He was killed in action during the October 1918 Meuse-Argonne offensive in France on October 8, 1918. He is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.

In Manchester, New Hampshire is a park (a Square), first called Park Common, bordered by Cedar Ave, Lake Ave, Pine and Chestnut Streets, dedicated as KALIVAS PARK in 1940, in memory of Christos N. Kalivas, who was killed during World War I, and later rededicated in 2002 to recognize all Greek-Americans who died while serving in the armed forces.
