When Harold Jacob Glance was born on October 28, 1898, in Toledo, Ohio, his father, Jacob, was 34 and his mother, Rosa, was 26. He had two sisters. Glance enlisted in March, 1916, being assigned to Ft. Thomas, Ky. He went overseas in Oct., 1917. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company E, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 6, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
