When Arthur Reinhard Gensler was born on April 13, 1896, his father, Frederick, was 28 and his mother, Emilie, was 28. He had three brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company D, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 24, 1918 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Saint-Juvin, France but his surname is inscribed as Gensber. The Arthur Gensler Post 664 Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Auxiliary was mustered in on December 19, 1931. Other records show his name as Arthur Reinhold.
