William Everett Roe was born on February 20, 1894 in Hamilton County, Indiana. He was the son of George and Dora Roe. He moved to Pulaski County in 1908 and worked as a laborer before entering the service on October 19, 1917 at Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana. He was sent to Camp Taylor, Kentucky thence to Camp Shelby, Mississippi. He was assigned to Company B, 162nd Infantry and embarked for overseas in July 1918; assigned to Company F, 28th Infantry, 1st Division. He participated in battles of Soissons and St. Mihiel and died on October 6, 1918 from wounds received in action at Mobile Hospital No. 2, Meuse, France. He was temporarily buried in Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne, France and is now buried in Cicero Cemetery, Cicero, Hamilton County, Indiana, USA. Time in service: 11 months, 19 days.
