When Samuel A. Ogle was born on July 14, 1899, his father, James, was 29 and his mother, Martha, was 20. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Battery A, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 5, 1918 at the age of 19 and is now buried in Chilhowee Cemetery, Seymour, Sevier County, Tennessee, USA.
