When Jacob Sancken was born in January 1883 in Augusta, Georgia, his father, Jacob, was 52 and his mother, Elisabeth, was 39. He had two brothers and one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Medical Detachment Company, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He was Killed in Action on October 12, 1918 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
