Frank Sangenitto was born on July 29, 1899. He was a member of the "Wild West" unit, composed of men from California, Arizona and other Western States that time. Sangenitto received his training at Camp Kearny and was sent to France in July 1918. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Battery D, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He was Killed in Action on October 10, 1918 at the age of 29 and is now buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Oakland, Alameda County, California, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Saint-Juvin, France but his surname is inscribed as Sangisnitto.
