Charles Glenn Crittenden was born on October 15, 1890 in Oswayo, Potter County, Pennsylvania. He entered Mansfield Normal School Mansfield, Pennsylvania in 1904, graduated in 1909; entered Cornell University in 1909, and graduated in 1913 with a B.S. Degree. He enlisted with the US entered the war, taking a leave of absence from the Georgia State Board of Entomology. He entered the First Officers Training Camp at Fort McPherson, Georgia, on May 15, 1917, graduating with distinction and was commissioned Second Lieutenant on Aug. 15, 1917. He was assigned to the First Division, Battery E, 7th Artillery. On October 2, 1918, a mile and a half north of Very in the Argonne Forest, he was severely wounded and died at midnight of the same day. He is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
