When Lanson E. Henry, Jr. and his twin brother Lansing were born in 1899 in Florida, their father, Lansing, was 37, and their mother, Jennie, was 24. He had two brothers and five sisters. He entered the military service in New York and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in HQ Company, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He was Killed in Action on October 4, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
