Harold Halverson; Pvt in the Infantry Co A 3rd M.G.B 1st Div; born Jan 9, 1894, at East Grand Forks, Minn, son of Mr and Mrs Arne Halverson. both deceased, adopted by Mr and Mrs Paul Hagen, East Grand Forks. Minn. Before entering service he was manager of the Hagen Cigar Store. Trained at Camp Green and Camp Mills. Embarked from New York on the Leviathan. Went into action overseas January 10; took part in five major offensives. Was cited for bravery in action in the Meuse Argonne by the 1st Div. Served at Cantigney, Toul, Soissions, Montaiddier. Wounded at Meuse Argonne Oct 1, 1918. Died of wounds the same day at Field Hosp No 2. Was buried in France and brought back and buried in Grand Forks cemetery Sept 4th 1921.
