When Milton Wilkes was born in April 1889 in Emanuel, Georgia, his mother, Margaret, was 23. He had one daughter with Alfreda Louise Goodwin in 1915. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Cook in Ambulance Company No. 3, 1st Sanitary Trains, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 9, 1918 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
