Born June 23, 1892 in Arcola, Daniel was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob A. Yeomans of Arcola and later of Hohokus. His sister, Mrs. Charles S. Zabriskie, lived at 67 West Ridgewood Ave. He was baptized October 31, 1897 in the True Reformed Church and later became a member of Arcola Methodist Church.

Yeomans entered the service May 8, 1917 in the Engineer Corps., did basic training at Fort Slocum, NY and sailed for France August 7. For the first few months he was a cook for his mess and afterwards became a wagoner, responsible for getting supplies and maintaining the wagons. He was on the front for a year with Co. E, 1st Regiment, U.S. Engineers and was killed by a bomb at Baulney (Meuse) October 8, 1918, the first war casualty from the Fair Lawn Grange. He was awarded two service stars "for bravery under fire".

His body was repatriated in 1921 and is buried in Plot 1105 at Valleau Cemetery. In addition to Ridgewood, he is also listed on the memorial plaques in Paramus and Fair Lawn. At death he was 26 years old.
