John J. Comfort was born on June 30, 1906 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He was the son of Jacob Comfort and Julia Comfort. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 7, 1944 at the age of 37 in France and was initially buried overseas but about five years after his death, his remains were shipped back to Michigan. He is now buried in White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, Troy, Oakland County, Michigan, USA.
