Urban B. Lentsch was born in Livermore on August 4, 1914, the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lentsch. He graduated from the Livermore high school with the class of 1932, and attended the University of Iowa for one year. He had been employed for several years by Andrew and Paul Erpelding north of there. He was inducted into the Army and received his basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Urban served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal in the 7th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
