Roy L. Harsh was born in Oklahoma and came to Wapato in 1932. He enlisted in the army November 13, 1940, and saw service with an infantry regiment in the North African and Sicilian campaigns before going to England to undergo training for the invasion of France. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 7, 1944 during the second day of invasion on Omaha Beach and is now buried in Reservation Community Memorial Park, Wapato, Yakima County, Washington, USA.
