Alonzo Bluford Vail was born on December 31, 1921 in Louisiana. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. A. W. Vail and attended Central School. He entered the army on April 21, 1942, trained in Little Rock, Arkansas. Alonzo served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the Medical Department of the 1st Infantry Division. He served in Africa, Italy and France. He was Killed in Action on June 23, 1944 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Wells, Cherokee County, Texas, USA.
