John Norman Metz was born in 1922. He was the son of Earl A. Metz and Leona May Ramsey Metz. John entered the military service in Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on July 5, 1944 and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Graceville, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, USA.
