Elmer Hughes Miller was born on May 12, 1921 in Logan County, West Virginia. He was he son of George Clarence Miller and Myrtle Della Hayes. He enlisted in the United States Army on 16 February 1940. Elmer entered the military service in Tennessee and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on August 2, 1944 and is now buried in Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
