Lorance Frank Krashowetz was born on October 13, 1916 in Iowa. He was the son of Frank Lewis Krashowetz and Edna Flora Deskin Krashowetz. Second Lieutenant Krashowetz served with the 17th Bomb Group, 37th Bomb Squadron aboard U.S. Army Air Corps B-26F Marauder #42-96326. His crew was shot down over Germany by Messerschmitt Me-262's, the world's first operational jet fighter aircraft. All aboard were killed. He is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lucas County, Iowa.
